I used to never have tears.  Now, when hearing of someone’s death on the news or any other means, tears come to my eyes.  They are tears mixed with empathy for the families and self-pity for me.  The tears remind me to pray for those families.  So many of them will be facing very difficult circumstances along with the great loss they feel.  I pray for their comfort.  I also pray that God send one of His children to them to tell them of His comfort and lead them to a close relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.  God tells us to (Romans 12:15 NIV) 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.  We are to be empathetic with others rather than standing back and judging their response or reaction.  But empathy must lead to action on our part.  Prayer reaches across miles.  We don’t need to see the results of prayer to know God honors and answers our prayers.  When we hear of disasters on the news, let’s be sure we intercede for those
